Hello!

Hi everybody! My name is Eric and I'm from Oklahoma. I just started playing upright in October, 2010, but I've been playing guitar and electric bass for quite a few years (very different kind of monster haha). I got my upright on the cheap off of eBay. It's a maestro 3/4. Don't know much about it. So far I've had to re-glue the neck on twice, the second time obviosely at my own fault for not doing it right the first time . Not the best of basses but it seems to be sufficient at this point. I've also done lots of cosmetic work. Still in the process bit getting closer. Tell me what you think!

At least it looks cool! Reminds me of voodoo. Rockabilly for sure.

Thanks plays_for_dog! That's pretty much what I was going for. The spider webs are all wood burned and the sugar skull panels are all wood veneer.

Show us the rest of the bass. Is it paint? Looks like wood around the skull. How did you do that? Not into that kind of thing myself, but you may have a budding career in custom paint jobs for rockabilly players.

Thanks tomshepp! No paint used at all. For the spider webs I sanded down the origional finish and used a regular wood burning tool to burn the webs. The skull itself is white dyed maple and the border of the skull and the background panel is zebrawood. I can't remember the other types of wood veneer used but it was done by inlaying the inner veneer into the outer veneers

Wow, that's a work of art. I hope it stands up to be being naked wood. Might be an idea to refinish it.

You'll probably find yourself in the rockabilly subforum soon!

I will finish it for sure! I just have to finish woodburning the lower side panels and touch up some spots of the black areas where I didn't sand it down quite as carefully as I shouldve haha
