I'm gonna stray from the pack and say that a five string double bass is not necessary in your case. I own five string electric basses and EUBs, but I just don't see the point in your case. My double bass, which I play 99.9% of the time, is a four. There are some five string double basses that sound and play well, but I'm not sure that any of them are in your price range. I could easily be wrong.
