Hohmann Double Bass, Need Help!

I am renting a Hohmann DB for around 60 bucks a month. All this money is going towards the total price of the DB thats around 1,400 bucks. I need to know if anybody knows anything about this brand of bass and if its good enough to invest in it. For example: Shipping it to Boston where i might be attending Berklee College of Music. Also investing in a complete setup, pickup, endpin, etc. The place where I'm renting it from is Johnny Thompson Music, in Monterey Park, Calif. Need Help deciding if its worth it for the long run.

I know nothing about Hohmann nor could I find anything quickly through Google. Based on the price, I am assuming it is a laminated bass of recent vintage.

From a purely practical standpoint, how long have you been renting it? If you've rented it for 18 months at $60/month, you've almost bought it ($1080 invested). In which case I say you should buy it for the extra $320, regardless of what else you end up doing. You could sell it for a profit.
