How Much does everyone practice

Hey,

Just out of curiousity how long does everyone practice. I know I am a night and day kind of person, I practice every free moment until my fingers are yelling at me. on average about 2-3 hours sometimes more pending on what repitoire I have to practice and how excited I am over that weeks lessons and thing of that sort. I just wanted to know ball park how much other people practice.

I don't practice unless there's a specific gig I need to prepare for. That's really not practice, I guess, just learning tunes.

I get an 1 to 1 1/2 hours in every day. That's about all the time I have for it between working and a wife and 3 little kids in the house. I'm not sure that what I do is practice. In my case, it's more like therapy.

I do a solid hour of practice every morning before work and at least an hour every night after work. On the weekends I practice throughout the day depending on whats going on.

Mines sporadic... I just try to play as much as I can and as much as I feel like. Some days I get about 45 minutes, others around 3 hours divided up into chunks every day. On average about it's about 1.5 hours I guess. I try to fiddle with it at least 15 minutes on days that I have no time to practice. On weekends I tend to organize my own sessions which I like when they run for about 5 hours, but typcially we play for about 3.5 hours.

But I think more importantly it's about focus and organization that can lead to quality practice. 15 min of quality practice blows 1 hours of noodlin' away any day of the week.

I have rehearsals, about 3hrs. each at least 4 times per week. Between those, I get a little individual practice in on the DB. At home I don't even get the bass guitars out of the cases except to clean them after a gig. It's tough. When I first started on DB, I was more consistent and put in about 2-3 hrs. per day. But then I started rehearsing with bands and gigging and well, there's where the time goes now. It's more important to practice regularly (often) than to practice for a long time every now and then. It's sort of like trying to exercise once a week. You get in shape faster if you do a little every day.

I try for 2.5 to 3 a day, not including rehearsals.

+1

That is all I have time for anymore. If you're young and you have a lot of time to practice, take advantage of it.

1-3 hours a day, not counting band practices or gigs.

I usually 2.5-5 hours a day from 3-7 days a week. Not incredibly consistent since my schedule is clouded with symphony practice, band rehearsal, private lessons, and band performance. [sarcasm]And then the joy of school.[/sarcasm]
