How much humidity swing is OK?

I just got my new carved bass from SLC (26% humidity) two days ago and it has been living in my Texas house with the windows open and the air conditioning off. No heat (yet).

The temperature is 76F and the humidity varies from 80 to 90%.

The bass bottom end doesnt sound as distinct as when I first got it, but otherwise ok. It goes back to the luthier in two weeks for a check-up and possible trim on the sound post.

Am I screwing up here?

Move this thread to set up and repair?

There were a few other posts about humidity in other forums so you might get more replies elsewhere.
In my limited experience, I would say you have WAY too much humidity- espscially if the bass came from a much drier climate. I'm in Chicago, but spring and early summer here are similar to the weather you have now. I use a dehumidifier quite religiously and keep the room humidity at around 35-50% year round. A little more humidity in the summer and a little less in the winter.
Good luck,
Greg
