Question How much would you pay Wilfer

A person has a Wilfer for the 1950's I'm not sure of the model but it's a 3/4 in decent shape with a c-extention. Their asking 10,000 for it, now normally I wouldn't even think about paying that kind of money an instrument being I'm more of a casual player rather than a serious musician but this bass just feels and sounds perfect, its like finding the perfect women.
anyway what do you guys and gals think

hind sight

Well, I once turned down $10,000 to let a woman go, but that was before I knew much about basses. In the long run I should have taken the money, let the lady go, and bought a Wilfer....

I tried a very similar bass to the one you mention that Steven Riley from Guarneri house had overhauled back in 1991. Beautiful Bass, with a very nice unfingered extension. He was asking $7500 back in '91.
Wish I'd had the money back then..(sigh) Anyway, I say make a counter offer of $8000 (It's worth it for an older Wilfer that plays like you say it does) and see what happens.

oddly enough this could possibly be the same bass!!??
According to the owner it belonged to a MSU student who traded it in for a better bass so it could of been through
grand rapids at some point. At any rate I'm going to see it again tomorrow and if the owner doesn't mind I'll post pics
