How Old is my Knilling Bass?

I recently acquired a Knilling Bucharest Model 1308T Bass serial #9126 and would love to know how old it is. The bass is in very good condition and doesn't look to be very old. When I called loud technologies they were no very helpful at all. The only thing they would tell me was that Knilling has been building basses for about 80 years and the serial # is not related to the age of the bass. I did send them photos in hope someone there could possibly do something with them, but I am not holding my breath. Here is a link to photos of the bass, any help you can provide with an aproximate age and value would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Roger

hi roger

i´m sorry to say this, but: your bass is not old - it´s new.

your question will be more interesting in about 200 years

I have a knilliing Bucharest model 1308T and the sticker is dated 2005. Its also Serial #5928. So yours was made sometime after 2005...If they are made in order of serial numbers...

Apprently then the serial nuumber doesn't relate to age

I know for sure the bass is at least six years old because the previous owner had it that long and it was used when he got it. So apparently the serial numbers do not relate to the age. My question then is what does the serial # relate to. I forgot to mention I know of another 1308T with a five digit serial number 11*** that the owner has had for over 20 years. I can't rember the number exactly anmore but do rember it was eleven thousand something. I must say the bass sure doesn't look old. Inside or out.

My Knilling 1308T looks pretty similar, and is a 2003 - so yours is probably somewhere in that range 8-12 years old probably? mine looks a little older - but that doesnt really mean anything yours could just have be in better condition.
