Question How old is my Pfretzschner ply roundback?

About 6 months ago I bought my first upright after playing electric for 5 years. I am loving it so far and have really enjoyed the challenge it has presented to me. I bought it from a friend of mine locally that had it for about 8 years and didn't really have the time to put into it anymore. He gave me a great price($1200). It is a G.A. Pfretzschner Ply Roundback from what he believed to be(guesswork) the 1950's. I have no idea how accurate this is but I have wondered how old it really is.

There bass's label reads:
"Reproduction of (Stamped in ink)
Antonio Stradivarius (Handwritten in ink)
GA Pfretzschner" (Handwritten in ink)

ANY information or suggestions regard the age of this instrument is appreciated. And let me know if there is anything I can do to help with the discovery of the bass's approximate production date.

Thanks!

~B

Your friend is a friend indeed to give you such a price. I have a bass that looks almost exactly like yours that also cost $1200, but mine was poorly refinished with poly and also has a scroll that was broken into a dozen pieces at some time in it's past. All is forgotten when I consider the way it feels and sounds. These can be nice basses, far beyond their humble beginnings.
Age? I would guess 50's is a good guess, maybe older but I'm no expert.
Enjoy!

Can you post some pics of the back and ribs? My bass has slab cut outer veneer. Very ugly stuff that looks as much like your run of the mill plywood as anything else.
Just curious.
