How to pronounce Kay?

I was curious about the proper pronunciation of the name Kay for Kay basses?

Is it the American female name of Kay (ay pronounced as a long A sound like hay) or the German male name of Kay (ay pronounced as a long I like hi)?

I'm curious about what made you ask. It was, after all, an American company.

America: two continents populated by one heck of a lot of immigrants.

Assuming you speak English, and have learned the alphabet. "Kay" is pronounced like the 11th letter of the alphabet.

Gosh.

I have it on good authority that it is pronounced kljtermgre, rhymes with mljtermgre.

This is actually a very good question...much subtlety and nuance is required to perfect the art of pronouncing "Kay"; more difficult than it appears, and often mispronounced..

Spelt backwards it would be pronounced 'yak' (jək), is this relevant?

I have to say, posts like these have become my favorites at TB. After years of string discussions and dots or no dots, this kind of thing is a welcome distraction.
