How to (roughly) date my bass?

I own a German Johann Georg Kessler bass:

It's a good bass (not a great bass, but good for the €600 I paid for it), but I have no clue how old it is. It's at least older than 1990, because the label says "Johann Georg Kessler, West Germany". Is there any way I can really determine how old my bass is?

Ask it out to a nice dinner, but don't show up when you say you will. Always wait three or four days to call it. Be mean to its friends. Definitely don;t say bless you when it sneezes.

Well, the problem is I don't know if I can do all that. I have to wait until I know how old it is, so I know if I have to have it's parents' consent first.

Well, you know it's at least over 18 since the label gives you a date of 1990 or before.

Well, now you know enough that you won't need parental consent.

i'd say contact the maker, assuming they're still around (might be able to find contact info from their website or something) and then tell them the serial number or whatever pertinent information you have about the bass..

Not rough enough.

OP needs to call Marv Albert for guidance.

I would have done that a long time ago, but I'm afraid they don't exist anymore as far as I can find out...

As far as I am concerned, the "how do I date my bass?" joke never gets old. The "roughly" part made it even better.
