I sent an email to Savion Glover with no response. I called all the numbers for an Andy McCloud that I could find in New York and they were either no longer in service or it was someone else.

currently the bass is in the shop being repaired and the performing arts center is paying for it.

thanks for asking

Any good teachers/gigs/jam sessions in the Hershey/Harrisburg area over the summer? I'll be playing at Hershey Park.

Chris

That's good to hear, but truly, the PAC is doing no more than what they are morally bound to do.
As for Glover and McCloud:
No class. No class at all.

How about an update?
Was your bass properly repaired?
Who paid?
Any loss in value?
Did you ever hear from or about Savion Glover?
What about the bassist that trashed your bass, Andy McCloud?

Most joints that rent basses out have a deposit that will cover a major repair, that is refundable on the return of the instrument in good condition. Like a security deposit on an apartment.

I've never rented my bass out, but I did loan it to Jim Ferguson for a couple of performances and a recording session. Basically he picked it up one Saturday night after I finished a gig and I met him in Grand Central Tuesday afternoon to get it back. I don't think I'd loan my bass to somebody I didn't know unless I was in the same room.

There's a funny junkie story that Leroy Williams tells about getting "hired" by somebody to keep an eye on his drum kit (which he leaves in the club) because Philly Joe is subbing for him for a week. First night, Leroy stays all night. Second night, third night.4th night Leroy has to leave early cause there's a gig or somebody he wants to go hear or something. Anyway, when he comes into the gig the next night, sure enough Philly Joe is sitting behind a kit that has brand new old raggedy ass cymbals and snare. Cause he had hocked the other ones...

Funny, I was about to post a story a bassist told me about Wilbur Ware, who was known to borrow basses from students "just for this gig" and pawn them to fund his entertainment costs.
Jimmy Dorsey was so shocked by the piece of $hit that Bird was playing that he gave him his Selmer outright. Next night, Bird is still playing the original horn, having sold Dorsey's Selmer.

My favorite junky joke:

What's the difference between an alcoholic and a junkie?

They'll both steal your wallet, but the junkie will help you look for it.

Wow man, that is really inexcusable to get your instrument back like that. Sorry to hear about it, I'd be very pissed off, as I'm sure you are.

hi guys...sorry for the delayed response. I've been out of town for the summer.

My bass was repaired and the arts center payed for it. They said they also sent a message to savion without a response.

My bass sounds and looks really great. My Luthier did a great job on the repairs. Thanks for the posts guys.

Good deal man, glad to hear everything worked out. It's just too bad this all happened in the first place.

If you had the company sign something you are able to take them to court for damaging rental equipment. I have had people damage EV MTL subs and try and get away with it, took them to court and got a new pair of MTLs

did you have them sign something saying that they are liable for all damages????

Update on the guilty party

I read yesterday that Savion Glover has been appointed to the board of the New Jersey Performing Arts Center
