I wanna learn to play double bass.

I play bass guitar already and want to learn a different instrument so ive always really wanted to play the double bass.

I was thinking of buying one of these.

No. That's an EUB. If you want to learn double bass, you need to play a double bass.

IMHO.

That's sort of like buying a skateboard when you want to learn to surf.

All of those type of instruments that I have tried feel stiff and very unlike a real DB, not to mention that they have a very different sound as well. I think these do have a use, but probably mostly when air travel budget doesn't extend to include a DB hard case and air freight or when a very modern techno type of sound is desired, which could as easily originate from an electric bass guitar. If you must, Clevinger makes the ones that sound closest to a real DB, but these cost as much or more than a high quality DB and depend on electricity to make a sound.
