I'm in.

I was listening to Brian Bromberg's Downright Upright last year and was really digging his sound. Thought it would be cool to try my hand at the DB thing, so... Did a ton of research, played a bunch of them and took the plunge. It plays incredible and has a great sound. Doing of lots of woodshedding, but I am really getting comfortable with it...thinking it will make it's public debut this summer (one more piece of gear to load in and out). I'm going to find a teacher so as not to transfer any of my bad BG habits to this one...I can't walk by with out stopping to play for 30 minutes!

Sheesh...forgot that. Thompson RM-100 I think is the model.

Welcome. You will never play your electrics again. They just don't have the same personality.

Congrats and welcome! Looks like a nice axe you got there. I recommend getting started w/ a teacher soon.. and you have a bow, right? If not, a teacher can introduce you to French/German bows and help you decide which style to go with.

No bow yet, but as soon as an instructor can help, I am planning on it. I'm not sure what the draw is, that makes me grab hold every time I walk by. Maybe it's the size or the warmth of the wood...whatever it is, it's hard to resist. Sort of liking dancing with a fat girl.

Congratulations! DB is a good time, even on days (or in my case, decades) where you don't play as well as you'd like. Enjoy!

Congrats!

And welcome!

I found out that older, fretless EBs' like mine are about as rare as roaches, and that they are worth next to nothing on the market. So, I am giving it to my youngest son who plays those plugged in thingys.
I'll never touch it again, although I AM keeping my amp. You never know.
I start lessons next month. First UB lesson I have had in 49 years.
Life is good.

Welcome and enjoy! Stay around here long enough and we'll have you dropping a fortune trying different strings.

Realist seems like it's going to be a good place to start...sort of a gear whore, so I have a lot of combinations of Genz, Markbass and Aguilar amps and cabs to try out.

Although, I did see a new AI on some web site...hmmm.
