Talking Instrument planning?

Hello there,
I am aware that one should no pick a bass purly on name alone, but based on wether the bass fills the needs of the player. BUT, I must say I have my ear out for a Jackstadt or a Romano Solano. The Jackstadts and Solanos that I have heard others play have a nice Orchestra fundamental sound and age well. Am I the only one that feels this way? Does anyone have any suggestions of any kind?

There is a Solano for sale right now in the Basses for sale section.
