It's "What's this Bass?" time!!! Strange metal bridge

Hello, this is my first post on "the dark side" of TB. I'm a BG guy, interested in meandering into the double bass world.. I've found this bass locally, a cheapo without a doubt, $400, with a strange and interesting bridge. I tried the search and found a few threads on the Selmer bridge and a bit on the Framus as well. This one seems a bit different.

The bridge has four contact points and the fingerboard almost looks a bit extended in the pics, or maybe that's just an illusion from the upper contact point of the bridge. Hard to say for sure with the low quality pics. Anyway, here's the pics I have available, looking forward to some informed opinions. Thanks.

Can't really tell much about the bass from those small pics I'm afraid.

(and that bridge I think in fact is a footrest, but I can't be sure!)

No one has a clue??? Or could it just be turkey overload? Not the best day to ask questions I suppose, pumpkin pie DOES take preference over everything today!

Ha! A footrest huh? It kind of reminded me of some sort of ceramic bathroom fixture! Unfortunately, thats all the pics that are available to me. The bridge was just interesting to me, although I can't imagine that it would transfer tone very well to the body, thanks for the reply though.

That bridge belongs in a diorama with an Amp-Peg pickup.

Hey folks, I'm new here too and I don't know what the bass is but I do see that kind of bridge sometimes at bluegrass jams. I was wondering if I need to get one

I WANT THAT BRIDGE!

Those were made by a couple of gents in Okalhoma....I think...Enid? The story, as I heard it but can't swear by it, is that one guy owns the molds and legal stuff and another guy knows how to do that actual work to cast 'em.

I really really wanted to buy one, and looked 'em up a few years back, but when I contacted them, they told me that the last one was gone and they were not likely to make any more. Apparently they weren't very hot sellers.

If you want to get rid of yours, please let me know.

Cheers

The story above is pretty much right on, one guy owned a company named Slowey who 'designed' and sold 'em. Another guy did the metal work.

I emailed back and forth with the neighbor of the old man who made the bridges for Slowey in Oklahoma in the 1980's. My bridge is a Slowey, it looks pretty much identical except to that but mine has different bottoms on the feet and no round holes in it??

Several of those bridges like that were sold on ebay a few months back.
