Just bought a 1940 Kay

Just wanted to show off what I picked yesterday at the Bass Mountain Bluegrass Festival. Ser. 7015, No signs of any repair, ever. Perfect neck, a little wear on the fingerboard, new bridge, (got to fit it), and new Labella Tape Wounds. Came with a used padded bag and an extra set of Super Sensitive strings.

Oh yea, it's an M-1

Great find! What's the round thing south of the bridge?

under the bridge

It's just a sticker that someone put there before I got it. Thinking about removing it, but I don't want to damage the finish under it.

Peel up a corner and soak it with lighter fluid. The sticker's adhesive will be dissolved but not your lacquer.

Go slow and be patient.

Send us a new pic.

Congrats. That's a sweet bass.

I just got a 1939 blond Kay. My first real bass. I'm beginning the transition from fretless ABG.

Will post pix when time allows.

That's awesome

I know you're stoked about your Kay. I know I was, and still am. Looking forward to seeing a few pics.

As a number of folks suggested, I decided to leave the sticker south of the bridge.

It's nice to see such an old bass in such great condition. Seems most of them get beat up. Congrats!

I have a '39 blonde Kay as well. What's the serial number on yours?
