For what forester said. Get a stand and use it.
What kind of strings do you have there?

What kind of strings do you have there? | Those are some ragged old strings that were on there when I got it, but I just replaced them with D’Addario Orchestra strings (I really only play jazz but I like the tension). They sound great, I was suprised how much it opened up the sound.

| | | | Strings Yes, the right strings can make a so-so bass really come alive. There is no way of knowing which strings would be best until you put them on and play them. But of course to do that you have to buy them, which would be a very expensive proposition indeed.
I have a soft spot for Kays, having played several in the military. Never played a thinline though. You have the same quiver that I use, but I don't have a pickup. It seems those of my generation shy away from amplifying uprights. Of course you need to if you are on a stage with three guitars running amplifiers, but then we shy away from doing that too.
Good luck. Your ax looks like a beauty.
