Up until last week, the only basses that I played that were clearly better than mine were also much more expensive. So much so that they were out of my price range. I could live with that. Then I played the Professor. It was all over after that!

Now, just for the record, the Professor is a flat-back, so I guess, technically, it cannot be called "fully carved." There hadn't been a Professor in the shop for a while and the one I played had just left the bench and had been strung with Olivs. As most of us know, some strings sound great on some basses and lousy on others. This was a case of the latter. The bass sounded muffled and thick. Gary was not pleased either. So, right there and then, he restrung it with Spirocore mittels. Holy ****! I fell in love. I ordered it in the dark finish that's pictured on their web site.
10 weeks, 6 days to go.

It feels like ages ago that I made the deposit. Oh well I asked for a special varnish style and this is what I get I think. I just felt like filling in on the progress. |

So that should be around 12 weeks. Mine will take around 15 so I'm looking at late July. BTW, I doubt the special finish caused any delay unless it was something more than a color specification. I asked for mine to be colored as identically as possible to the one on the web site.

I'm new here but am in the bandwagon of an 'on order' Professor.
I also went with the ebony hatpeg tuners and dark brown finish as on the website. I'm getting it strung with Obligatos, but am having a set of Spiros shipped with it also.
I took a 'leap of faith' with this instrument as I did not get a chance to hear/see one before ordering. I sincerely hope I'm pleasantly surprised when it eventually arrives.
I ordered my on April 6th, so the end of June would probably be the soonest.

Wow-- sight unseen and sound unheard. That is a leap of faith.
I think you'll be very happy!
As I mentioned, I played the Professor strung with Spiros and it was fantastic. In the end, I decided to go with my beloved Dominants.

Well I just ripped off April 30th and was excited to see May 1st meaning only one or two weeks left until my bass. It is getting close. |

The BG side of me says to save up and get one of each just to have. Reality-says, ain't gonna happen.
The wait will be worth it. When i purchased my StingRay5 the shop had a bass identical to what i wanted, except it had a rosewood fingerboard. So i placed an order with them for one with a maple board. I placed the order December 26th [i think] and i got it i think mid-February. Thankfully, i already had several bass guitars and was busy enough where i didn't think about the wait all that much. When it came in-it was all worth it. Now, 4 years later, it's still my main electric bass and is my go-to bass for live work.
