i bought this about 2 years ago here in atlanta. i knew that it belonged to rodney jordan, a very amazing bassist that now teaches at florida state. i was cool with that, but tonight from a very reliable source, i found out that it belonged to the late great laymon jackson. it was his last bass that he owned and recorded with often.
its really cool that my bass is apart of jazz history. apparently laymon is the second most recorded bassist next to ron carter.
ill put a pic up later on.

that special considering the many hundreds of basses that have passed through his hands. |

He's probably not the 'second most recorded bassist' but he sounds good with Donald Byrd and Pepper Adams in the clips on AllMusic: Laymon Jackson | AllMusic |

b) Think I need that record
c) I'm very skeptical of "2nd Most Recorded" too.
According to AllMusic.com which may not be entirely complete, it's looks like he's credited on about a dozen albums
Looks like a few hundred each for
Paul Chambers, Ray Brown, Jimmy Blanton and others*
I didn't count and guessed at the number of re-releases or compilations, which I attempted to round down for.
Anyway, it's still jazz history and it's still cool. I have no idea who may have owned my bass or what they played on it.

I love George Duvivier and I know he recorded a lot, but if he recorded every single day of every single year from 1960-2000, without a sick day (or vacation or touring) that would only be 14,600 record dates, and we know he didn't do that.
Not to take away from his body of work or the coolness of the OP's bass, but I think we're getting a little carried away with some of these claims.

I listened to a radio interview with George Duvivier and James Williams in Boston on June 8 1984 and that is exactly what HE said. Your calculations are way off as GD was recording as early as 1937 according to his biographer, David Berger. It's very easy to use Google Books and read the relevant chapter in Berger's book, BASICALLY SPEAKING- AN ORAL HISTORY OF GEORGE DUVIVIER. He would sometimes take four recording sessions in a day. My error was to use the term "record dates" as the 26,000 includes all types of commercials etc.
