And I've got a chinese bass that's excellent. Beware generalizations.

the pickup is a Fishman, mounted with clips. Those
can be removed and the piezo units can be glued on the bridge surface, if you want. The metal wire is for ground, be sure it´s wrapped on the strings tightly, otherwise it will make a nasty buzz. You got the preamp which sells with the pu ?
The bass is plywood, doesn´t look like a Strunal, neither is it a Crapmona. Prolly some small factory in Czech Rep. How´s the back, flat or arched?

funkfish,
may i suggest you use some bigger bolts to keep the body attached to the neck hanging in the background? |

How does it sound? |

$700 is a good deal indeed for a decent-sounding plywood. |

And I've got a chinese bass that's excellent. Beware generalizations. | He said it was a czech bass for $700. My old Lidl (Czech) plywood bass looked exactly like that. Chill out. |

Oh, and my work bass (a carved, german instrument) has painted f-hole edges.

You can determine whether it is a plywood or not by looking at the top and back edge-on. On a plywood instrument you will be able to see the ply layers, on a carved you will see the grain lines wrap around. Check both top & back, as it may be a hybrid (carved top, laminated back & ribs).
To my eye it has the look of a plywood bass, but not sure from this far away. I zoomed in on the f-hole pic but couldn't make it out for certain. |

Sticker glue sticks better to carved basses.
Enjoy your new bass.
Nice transparent body bass hangin on the right side of the wall.
