Karl Hofner bass???

I'm looking to trade in my Eastman bass for a Hofner ply. Does anyone have any experience with these basses? The one I looked at was nicely flamed and sounded really great for a plywood ,model. My hybrid Eastman gets scratched and beat up to easily and I need a good alternative bass that is tougher.

I had a full size Hofner ply twenty years ago, and it was truly great.
Top quality instrument and fitting.
It was hard to play for a small guy like me though!
Scale was over 110 cm!
At some point, I strung it in fifth with a low C, and it sounded amazing!

Ok, thats good. I'm looking at a 1988 model. Would you recommend it over a hybrid bass though? How well did it hold up?

Difficult to recommend it over another instrument.
I sold it for financial reasons two years later, so I don't know how it hold up, sorry!
You'll likely get less volume from a ply I think.
For arco playing, I'd stick with the Hybrid.
