KATRINA BASSES: please help!

Nnick Lloyd asked me to post the following:

Katrina Basses is a non-profit project that puts instruments into the hands of Hurricane Katrina-affected upright bassists. To donate, apply for help, or find out more information, please visit www.katrinabasses.org

Thank you!

BUMP

Folks, whatever else you may be doing, this worthwhile endeavor deserves your support.

I hear they have weather where YOU live, too, y'know?

BUMP. I'm unsticking this one because there are already so many sticky threads in Basses that sticking it in effect hides it. Free bumps on this one for all interested - Sam's point is more than valid.

TB bass brotherhood: We now have two recipients looking forward to getting instruments. So the program could use a little love , as well as wallet go-juice, from you fine people. Here's the link! Let's hook these guys up!

Got that right; Thanks for the bumps, fellas. The www.katrinabasses.org page looks good, has all pertinent info and is easy to use. It only takes a couple of minutes to get involved.

I would like to post this as mannerly as possible...

Donations, to date, aren't really coming in that quickly for this project. We have bassists that need an upright, but not the donations to make it happen. Please take 5 minutes and visit www.katrinabasses.org

Thank you.

Bumpity Bump...

Bump.

Is there any way to get this thread posted somewhere more visible? Maybe even create a banner that can get mixed up with the rest of the ads? Has anyone asked Paul this kind of thing? At the least, it needs to be posted in the main homepage as a piece of news - but there's alot of regular junk that shows up there which would shove it down to the bottom.

Maybe DownBeat and/or Jazz Times or one of the other periodicals would post something. They've got to be doing a story on the music and musicians from that area.

Does anyone have any connections?

I can post a small banner on the DB Forums pages - I can come up with a very simple banner, but perhaps there's someone involved in this project with more graphical know-how who could come up with something for this purpose?

And maybe the thread could be a sticky at the top of all DB forums like an announcement?

I thought the point was to un-sticky it so it wouldn't get ignored...?

I think the guilt angle is a bit much. The graphic is nice, though.

How 'bout something long the lines of: "NOLA; Show some support for our bassists of the port."

Agreed. When I saw RAYRAY's post, I was expecting something far more distasteful than what that ad actually said. My donation goes in this week, but since I'm not terribly wealthy, it will take a lot more than that to get someone a bass.
