Kay "Midget" S10, 1/3rd size

Can anybody tell me anything about the Kay "Midget Bass"? This is the S10- it's a 1/3rd size, yes that's right 1/3rd. If there are any Kay fanatics out there who would know, about how much would you value one at if it was in perfect condition, with fully functioning electronics? I have an opportunity to buy such an instrument at what I imagine is a pretty good price (around $1500). It's Blonde, and made in 1953 according to the serial number. I can find very, very little info about it on the web. I did find one listed on ebay for $1500 with what looks like a pretty nasty crack next to the endpin, but the one I have access to has no such problems and also has electronics built into the bass, including a volume dial on the top table. It sounded pretty good for such a tiny little thing and I'm kind of tempted to buy it just because it would be so easy to carry around- if it turns out to be something that I could maybe sell for more money than I paid for it later down the road that'd probably seal the deal...
Thanks for anybody's help,
-Carl
