KC Strings

Anybody have a carved bass from KC Strings? I would do a search, but the search function doesn't allow two-letter words.

I bought one last spring.

These come in either a 3/4 and a 7/8. I bought the 7/8 because it just has a tone that hits me in the gut when I play it. The 43" string length and large size bother me a bit, but everything is a tradeoff. It is a really nice instrument.
We can continue this later. Gotta run now.

My new KC Strings Bass
I guess it was February. Time flies.
After playing it now for several months I still like it alot and it is opening up nicely.
The finish, setup and overall workmanship are top notch.

Thanks. It turns out the one for sale in Madison is a ply, and I've already got a Kay.

Their plys are OK. I have played a couple of their hybrids and like them a lot better though.

Speaking of KC Strings, did someone purchase the American Standard that was/is there?

According to an email I got from Ben Cross there, the answer is yes - it's sold.

Yep,
My teacher, Gerald Spaits, bought it and is loving it. He told me the pickup he had on it died on a gig so he played most of the gig ampless. A guy came up to him to compliment his sound and said he could hear every note! It's a big, growly tone for sure.

This could be a good one with some work:

I'm not surprised to hear he didn't need a pu! I scored a refinished/rebuilt 1938 model very recently, your description of Mr. Spaits bass has been my experience as well. It's cured me of my fear of 7/8 string lengths for sure.
