One things for certain. Those King Basses seem to be
tough and durable.

OK, a couple of you made good points and make me feel like I'm throwing out the baby with the bathwater by not liking jazz because of the superior attitudes of a lot of people who play it. But I think it's ridiculous to put people down because they like to put on a show and view it as equally important as playing well. Jimbo Wallace is a terrific musician. Just because he plays rockabilly and stands on his bass and doesn't play jazz doesn't mean he's untalented. That smugness of dismissing someone as a real musician without hearing them just because they're over the top entertainers is messed up.

As are sweeping generalizations. As for me, I've played lots of jazz, as well as punk, funk, R&B, top 40, pit bands, Muzak, polka, country, bluegrass, Hawaiian music, radio commercials, and some stuff that remains nameless. And yes, I've played rockabilly, and enjoyed every damn minute of it, thanks much. I'm willing to bet I'm not the only one, either.

Oddly enough, Kcorren, the bass that the Rev is standing on in the pic you posted is Jimbo's red Engelhardt C-1, not a King. Not sure how long he's had it, but he was playing it as long ago as 1998 and it still makes appearances today.

One of the things I find interesting about these basses
is the magnetic pickups that are integrated into
the fingerboard.
