I guess I don't get it. None of the usual measurements are the same between the Cleveland and the Jupiter, and the Jupiter sells for 44% less money. Even if the measurements were identical, and the Jupiter were 44% less . . . where would be the bad behavior? Either the Jupiter would be less well made or the Cleveland would be overpriced, or both.
But as it is the measurements are different and the price is way different, it would seem that they're different animals priced for different markets. The same can be said of shoes, coffee, and soccer balls. What's the tragedy, exactly?

Among other things, the ad copy was calling the Chinese bass "the new standard" and that's just blatant in my books. |

Among other things, the ad copy was calling the Chinese bass "the new standard" and that's just blatant in my books. | The reason I asked the question is because I wanted to understand. You're saying that the Jupiter is a Chinese bass that the ad copy was calling "the new standard." This I didn't know because the current Jupiter webpage does not mention that it is Chinese made and it refers to it as "the new Benchmark of Excellence." So I guess you're referring to a different ad, or they changed the webpage from what it originally stated, yes? Now I understand. I'm glad I asked. Thanks for your answer.

I'm not an intellectual property lawyer, but I'd guess there's a gray area here regarding the use of the lower-case term "the new standard of excellence." For example, if someone started a bass company called "Big Sound," it might be hard for him to complain if some other company stated in its add copy that a certain bass it made had "a really big sound." But I realize there were never any legal questions here, just ethical ones, perhaps, which appear to have been alleviated by the copy change. As I said, now I understand. Thanks.
