Little sister comes home (LaScala ply content)

Picked up the new bass up at Nnick's place on Tuesday. I know there's about a 114.3% chance that I'm biased, but after playing a couple of gigs with it, this feels like the best ply bass I've ever laid hands on. The sound is huge, quick and present, and it's a real joy to play. I'll be taking it to my next bunch of gigs and experimenting. Hoo-ahh! Life is good.

Spiro mittels with a stark E, and a Full Circle. I haven't used the mic on it yet. Sorry the pics are so huge, but I'm trying to show off the finish job. She's a very huggable girl.

I had the pics showing but now they're gone Probably for the best PW, they would have sent you to the bathroom.

Great looking bass DURRL, at least from what I recall of it from about 30 minutes ago.

8 5/8" on the upper bout, and right about 8 3/4" on the lower, including the thickness of the top and back - just a hair deeper than big sister. A friend in town recently bought a hybrid LaScala and we had it back to back against my hybrid and noticed the same thing.

Nah, I only got two. I'm just proud of my girls. Both of them put together cost me about half as much scratch (or less) as a lot of guys' main basses alone ran them. This one's a real copy of the hybrid. Nnick took a bunch of measurements and it feels perfect switching from one to the next. The new one is a bit more fair haired and lively than the elder, but I think a brand new set of spiros up next to a 4 year old set of dominants probably accounts for the latter half of that comparison.

I'll post sound clips in time. I'm hoping to leave the hybrid at home this July and just take the new one to the camps and put her through her paces. If I can, I'll try to grab one of the other faculty guys and record a quick duet.

That looks great Chris. I'm looking forward to hearing it some time.

OT: you ever played with Don Wagner? I've been jamming with him a bit. Real nice guy
