Looking for info on child size bass

So I wanted to find an UB for my 4 y.o. son. My options are:

1. Buy this 1/10 scale bass on ebay.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=150221481641

2. I'm not sure if its possible but... get a cello and tune it in 4ths. The dimentions for the above bass are within 1.5 inces of my wifes cello.

3. Try building my own 1/10 bass.

Are there any more options? And does anyone know if it is possible to tune a cello in 4ths. What strings would I use?

Thanks
Mark

So Ideal is going out of business? They were such a fixture in NY. Good prices, but I didn't really like dealing with them. For one thing. They had a no return under any circumstances policy, even if they gave you the wrong thing! They pretty much had any string you could think of in stock all the time, though. That was convenient.

His dad passed away, so Steve is selling off the stock of Ideal Music.

I had one of my Roma's damaged in transit and Steve sent me a replacement right away - I think we split the shipping cost, which was hefty from NYC to Blaine, Wa.
