I saw a
local classified which is priced around $485. The seller said that it was made in Pampanga, Philippines, so I thought it was by Jacques Gagnon (
Cremonasia). He cleared that it was of the Lumanog, which is a place there famous for their acoustic guitars (been doing them since colonial times).
I wonder about the quality of this Lumanog contrabass, or if anyone here has used it or currently owns it. It doesn't look shiny, but, as I said, their acoustic guitars are great, plus it's near the Gagnon house so they might have acquired some luthier to sort it out for them.
My other option is a cool sounding custom EUB, which is double the price for this one. I like it's sound, but I know it's a different animal from a contrabass. I'm looking into getting this thing because I might begin lessons next month (have yet to hear a confirmation from the teacher). He seems to be busy for the holidays but I'll also get his input for this. Any feedback is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
