Hey we just missed each other at Gage's last month. I heard you were in talking to Dave at the same time I was upstairs with Sam getting a new bow...

Yeah, my teacher uses German and since I'm getting a little mo serious I figured it would be good. Plus the times I been picking his up it just felt more right.

Both were really well made with nice choice of woods, and a very comfortable setup. I was really impressed ! The french one had a warm, deep, refined, and singing voice, very even. The Thir was still in her setup phase, but had yet a much deeper voice with lot of overtones.
He is currently making for me a 5-string, and i have to say he is the nicest guy you've ever met, very understanding and patient. |

As the Golia is now set up for my taste, I would describe it as the power and low end of a Hawkes Panormo with the singing g string and fast respose of a good Italian bass. Dark but centered. It's way beyond my expectations. Fat easy response. Amazingly accessible for a larger instrument. And it looks as cool as s**t. |

Turns out that he is out of town for a few days, so I'll miss him. I talked to you about a month ago by phone. I"m probably ordering a tailpiece and wire as soon as I return. |

Report back too us. Ken Smith has posted some pictures of fabulous looking Hungarian basses that are so well antiqued (at least from the pictures) that they would fool an expert. |
