Mario seems to have two tiers of double basses coming out of his shop.
- chinese built imports he finishes in his shop (fingerboard, bridge+adjusters+p/u, nut, tailpiece+chord, soundpost, etc.)
- his own handmade basses.

His china basses are carved round backs, 7/8 size, play and sound wonderful, and go for about $8K CAN. (Rough price, maybe $6-9K CAN). A lot of people have them around here. He also makes removable neck models, lefties, 3/4 size etc. upon request.

His basses made fully by him are in another range. I've never seen one in person. They might start at $20K, I'm not sure. Each one is unique. Those are the drool worthy ones on the website.

You can email him directly for more accurate info.

Mario is an artist, as evidenced both in the sound and in the look of his work. I have tried several of his basses, and they all respond brilliantly, with an equally brilliant, penetrating tone. The restoration work he has done on my instrument is absolutely top quality, and his extensions are truly awesome. Also, the detachable neck is excellent, and makes travel much easier - my own experience talking there.

A friend of mine played the 'Vitruvian Man', the latest bass on his site, this past autumn. She said that in the two months she had it, she noticed something new in the detail carving and finish of the bass every day.

Not only is he a great gentleman, and a scrupulously honest and considerate businessman, but truly one of the great luthiers of our time. I also know a violist and a cellist, each owning instruments of his, and have played chamber music with both of them using these instruments: same quality, same beauty.

An original Lamario instrument is a work of art that will only appreciate with time.
