My double bass sounds airy?

I just got my first double bass ( played electric for 2 years )

But I notice that when I play, my sound comes out as airy, like the bow is not gripping the strings correctly, any tips?

Also, I'm new, and I may be posting in the wrong forum

If you mean rosin, then yes. Not mine, orchestra teacher gave it to me.

If you're new, then its probably because your right hand technique is not developed. Be patient, work on it. Do you have a teacher? If not, this is a must. Could be that you need more rosin, too. Also, make sure its BASS rosin, not cello or violin rosin.

And, if you're mostly comparing to recordings, remember that you always make a bit of bow noise, and recording engineers go to great lengths to avoid recording it. Plus, it doesn't carry so most of the time the audience can't hear it either.

Keep working on the technique, it is a real and necessary goal to reduce that noise.
