Talking My first bass: a dark brown hungarian hybid from 1958 :)

I bought it 10 days ago, and I can't stop playing it.
It has a nice rich, deep sound I think, but there are adjustments need to be done.

-the action at the nut is a bit high on the E and the A string
-I could use a longer end-pin (maybe a half inch longer)
-on the G string a couple of notes are 'buzzing' E, F and F#, becouse the fingerboard was broken once

It was 135.000 Forint / $733.02

I'm still learning the first position, so it will be good for some time.

I don't know wether I should spend money on it, or play it in it's current state, and later a buy another.

I know, I should find a luthier. => +1 for me, haha

With an ebony fingerboard and good settings it could be awesome. And of course a talented, well educated player, who is on it's way.

Congratulations! Beautiful bass!

For I wouldn't worry about the fingerboard. Just get a good set up from a good luthier and a set of strings you like.

Worry about the fingerboard when this one wears out - and that might be many years from now.

Near the L. Blaha square, two blocks away from the NOVOTEL hotel is located the atelier of Lajos Konya, one of the best luthiers in Europe. If i were in your shoes i'd asked him for a thorough set up, in order to have the best in terms of sound and playability.
Regards from Greece

There is an easter egg on one of the pictures, find it if you can.
You won't regret it.

Thanks for the replies, I play it every day.

I thought Lajos Konya works with cellos, violins and violas, but I will ask him.
I will need a new bag, if I want to carry it around.
The one I own now is made out of synthetic leather, and doesn't protect much, the zippers are killed.
