| my first upright i've been playing electric for about 4 years now, and i love it. but i recently picked up the school upright (i'm only 15) and it was the most wonderful thing i've ever played. and it's an awful instrument, the back's coming off, there are splits down the fingerboard, the whole thing is falling apart completely. but i'm completely in love with the thing.
i've pretty much decided to break into my current savings (i was looking for a fretless 6 string electric) but know i'm so obsessed with uprights, i'm going to buy myself one. my teacher has been a professional electric and upright player since he was 14, so i don't worry about actually learning it.
but where should i start in terms of what instrument to buy. of course i want something quite cheap, i don't need a pro quality instrument yet. but i don't want an instrument that will just fall apart, or just be so badly made that my technique will suffer.
what makes should i consider? i suppose my price-range is about £200-£300 around now ($400 - $600), but i could save up more if it's necessary. what quality of instrument would this get me?
i know it's a very vague question, and i don't really know where do start on this subject. it's a very daunting prospect for me.
i would search, but i'm not sure what to search for.
any advice would be REALLY helpful
thanks
