I've not read anything negative about the Hawkes, so it appears to be a good move..

Play first..

5stringDNA....yes, I played a New Standard Bass a friend had; although it was a Hybrid....I loved the playability and the sound....I figured the fully carved has just got to be incredible sounding by comparison and I am right!!

Now, I can't imagine playing anything else....of course, this is the biggest step I have taken as an investment in an instrument...I am comfortable with this level..and consider myself lucky to be here @ this comfort level...
