| | | Just thought that i would post a picture of the new baby, (lovingly named Esperanza), and answer any questions that anybody has about Shen's new stock fiver,
I'll post some pictures of angles on the bass sometime tomorrow, but it's 10 o clock, I'm tired, and i have classes tomorrow, so I'm putting it off. xD

You keep the dampits in for playing Handel's Water Music, right?
What I really want to know is: where did you get that t-shirt? |

Ha. Actually, i use the dampits because my school's band room has a door which opens directly outside, so humidity control is horrible. I take them out when playing, but it keeps the bass controlled even in the insanity that is an orchestra-unfriendly band room.
T-shirt is from www.cafepress.com
I'll attach a link momentarily. http://www.cafepress.com/+bass_evolu...hirt,284499572

So much so that I"m having Upton Basses build me a 5 string as we speak and am currently rocking a BSX 5 string EUB. What strings are you using on that sucker if you don't mind me asking? I"ve found that Velvet Animas have the best tension/tone for B string clarity/playability. |

Please, please be careful with those damp-its. You may wish to do a search here and read about them. I've found the danger of dripping to be so great that I stopped using them. I prefer to put the bass in it's bag with a wet sponge in an open zip-lock baggie placed inside. Quote:

Doctor Masciadri appeared to be quite impressed with one of them as well.

I have the license plate version of that same graphic. | They do scare me....the dampits I mean. But I've been very very careful with them.

| | | | disaster strikes two days into owning my bass, I found out that the c string i recieved was defective. while I was tuning yesterday, the winding exploded, and I'm now left with four strings.
Well, my band leaves tomorrow for the National Concert Band Festival, so I needed to order a low C string that would be here by today, so i could install the string before 7:00 tomorrow morning.
So, at 12:30 yesterday afternoon, I call some places, and NOBODY seems to have the string I need, until some guy in god-knows-where-ville, Washington, refers me to Seman Violins in Skokie, IL. (For anyone who knows Michelle Fiore of Classic Contrabass in Wheeling, she used to work at Seman)
Skokie isn't far from where I live, (Plainfield), but Seman's supplier is out of New York. Well, I happened to catch him while he was on the phone with his supplier, and Seman put the $250 dollar price tag on his personal credit card until we could meet him up at his shop to purchase the string. The string arrived AT MY DOORSTEP by 3:00 today!
This guy is a champ. Seriously, one of the nicest people I've had the pleasure of doing business with. If you're ever in a jam, I highly recommend giving him a call. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
