My toes just touched the water...

We'll I put an order in with Upton Basses for an Engelhardt ES-9 Swingmaster.
The guys there were really helpful in getting me what I need and want.

That Swingmaster sure is purty...and with their set up services, I'm promised a very playable instrument.

I went with TI Spirocores and a moderately jazzier set up. Along with the bass they are providing a new bridge with adjusters, fingerboard dress and plane, adjust and dress the nut, replace and fit NEW soundpost, top quality German endpin, rehang of the taipiece with UB tail gut, scrape out the neck and french polish for a smooth playing surface...

All that for a very nice price....

This isn't the exact one I don't think, but this is the model

I have some learning to do before I get a pickup and other items...for now, it will be for home study only.

Congrats Zulu, I've been playing DB for about 4 years and have been learning by the seat of my pants for a while [i picked it up my freshman year of high school-i'm now a senior]. I played an old Kay S1 [that was in dire need or a setup amongst other things] until i got my Cleveland as graduation/birthday/christmas present from my dad. DB has definately opened up doors for me. Congrats on the purchase.

I needed some inspiration.
This might do the trick,

Should take 2-3weeks to deliver.
I'll be in TX for two weeks anyway.

I'm out of Ft Dix NJ for the most part. I have a place down in Mt Laurel because I can't get home every night.

I can't wait to get going on this new road.
I may need some pointers!!!

You WILL need pointers. Here's the first one:

Get a teacher. It will (not could, will) save you a lot of struggle and possibly much pain.

I have done the same. I have ordered a lefty ES-1 Supreme.

My luthier had a Swingmaster that had just arrived for another customer. I tried it out and really liked the sound.

I hope my Supreme sounds as good! I am looking forward to playing it!
