my upright issue..

my main instrument is 6 string electric bass. however i do own an upright, and i love the instrument. the thing is..i dont spend time really getting down and bettering my playing on it, because i know i cant transport the thing to gigs..

so my question is, is there anything out there i can get thats easy to fit into a small car?

ideal would be some kind of 3/4 scale electric upright thats inexpencive. sound is not an issue, i want a cheapo.

but im in the dark, so hit me up with any ideas youve got.

thanks.

I'd suggest that you experiment a bit more with fitting your upright in your car. I've been able to fit mine into some very small cars in the past. The easiest thing is to lay the passenger seat back as far back as it'll go. In some cars you can get the seat to recline to a laying position. Then put the bass in there.

a 3/4 bass will fit in a Ford Taurus, or a Nissan Altima...

I get mine in a 2 door cavalier.
I have heard of guys getting them in honda hatchbacks and civics.
But to answer your question. David Gage makes a traveler bass.... and BSX Allegro are the best electric uprights IMO. Or get a nice Rob Alllen mouse or something.

=o. wow. thanks for all the advice, i guess i wasent trying hard enough, eh?

then if i am going to be playing out with the upright, the next question is a pickup..

ive heard from a trusted fellow bass player that the "gage realist" or "underwood" are good choices..

let me know of any other pickups i might want to look into..

What kind of music are you playing? Different pickups are appropriate for different styles. And do you play pizz or bow?

I used to squeeze mine into an old Nissan Micra (yeah - small!). I'd take the head rest off the seat and then put it back over the neck securing it between the 'legs' of the headrest. I reckon you could fit it in your car - just be creative!
