1943 Kay M1 Her name is Fate
Interesting thing about the bass. Apon cleaning it at the shop they started finding signatures all over the bass. On the top and both ribs. Some are very bold but most are very fant. Some were damaged by rash. One was dated 1949 but it is very hard to read. This week end we are going to try and figure out as many as we can.
2 most defined writen names are
Tex Moose
Paul pierce
I would say there are close to 30 names on it.

Mine's a '56 and in worse cosmetic condition than yours. You got a cool toy!

But thinner than the shen and other more classical uprights I tried. I like it its a middle ground between the 2 norms and it feels good! Also they said it should have a long life. A lot of meat there if ever needed to be planned in the future. |

I choose to leave the old style none adjustable wooden pin. But this soon became a problem with the pin that came with the bass there was no way to add a rubber foot. So it wanted to skate on wooden floors. So today I fashioned a new hickory endpin. I left more tapered area on this one to achieve maximum contact area. Since the only thing that holds it in is tension. And that's a crutch tip to supply my skid proof end.
New on left old on right. Still have to put in bass and figure out how tall I want it. But I also come to find when you have a non adjustable endpin set up just for you. It cuts down on others wanting to play your bass!
