Input for Double Bass purchase

For my money I would highly recommend contacting KC Strings in Kansas City. They are selling Chen Basses that are fantastic student instruments at the same price as the one your son just tried out but produce a much superior sound and retain their value over time. Before you buy anything do yourself a favor and check them out at http://www.kcstrings.com or call Mischa Krutz directly at (913) 677-0400.

I see no reason why you couldn't get an Upton/New Standard/Shen Willow through your local guy and thereby eat your cake and have it too.

It might cost you a little more money up front, but that will pay dividends over the years, whether in adjustments, strings or sharing of knowledge.

Just the way I see it, Jake

So a question would be, does Upton deal with distibuters? If not, than I would be giving up the rental money. Not that big of a deal, but I really do want to make a deal with this local dealer. He is a GREAT guy and so far has bent over backward to help us out. So is there any way to do this? The local shop I am dealing with is called Just Joe's Music, and I really do want to have Joe involved somehow.
YES we are happy to sell our basses fully setup to any other shops at wholesale price. Just put him in contact with me...
