Talking New Bass on the way

I am posting this to just say that I am very excited to say that I have a UB Hawkes Hybrid on the way and after playing one at the store awhile back I am counting the seconds till it arrives!

I'm turning green...I was excited to get my Hawkes lam, but the hybrid should be a killer.

I notice in their photos they have Spiro weichs on the bass...how did you order yours? and how would you compare the sound qualities of the two?

All the best...

I asked for the strings that would be best for mostly orchestral with a little bit of jazz on the side. He said he knew what I'd like and that's the last we talked about it. I'd be happy to let you know, but I'm not sure how to do a string comparison.

Actually, I should have made my post a little clearer. I meant the sound qualities of the hybrid v. the lam, or whatever else you played.

Well, I've played both. The hybrid Hawkes is a sweetheart! To my ears, the difference is what you'd expect-- a more refined, complex tone. I predict that Jon will be VERY happy.

I agree that he'll be happy...especially in that price range. I consider it a 'no-brainer'.
