New conrad goetz upright(pics)

ok, so its new to me... in great condition, i bought it off my long time teacher and mentor, who bought it off his 25 years ago, alot of mojo for me, and a renewed sense of purpose in the bass world for me...im a bit burned out on EB. So after almost buying an EUB and wondering if i should even bother, im glad i got into it, ive got the sgteady practice schedule and a good starting point technique wise. Ive been lurking these forums for awhile, glad to join the uprighters here.

take a look at the pics, it has a crack in the side, nothing serious but i was wondering what kind of repair cost im looking at, and in the the next year im replacing the fingerboard and bridge...any ideas?

oh yea, the label reads goetz 1971, number 553

The family name is "Gotz". You'll probably get more responses with the correct spelling. Good luck!

This bass has a Hofner look to it and looks to be in pretty good shape. Congratulations.

The correct spelling in english (minus the oomlauts) is Goetz.

Now You've Done It

You've come to the dark side.
You have entered a different world.
Double Bass is the musician's equivalent of the Hotel California.
My advice: buy a string winder, soon.
You have embarked on a lifelong search. For example, the best string. Right now, while interest rates are low, get a loan so you can buy every string that's ever been made, 'cause that's what you're gonna do.
Then there's amps, pre-amps, speakers, cabs. Then you'll try microphones.
Any plans for arco? Carbon fiber or wood? French or German? Black hair or white? (Not to mention salt and pepper)
Over here, we argue about rosin.
It's endless.
And............................................... you can never leave........
