New to Double bass

hi, I recently borrowed my school's double bass to learn on and am currently taking lessons. My question may seem kind of dumb, but here goes. what's the best way to store the bass? I really want to avoid causing damage (although it is pretty beaten up already). right now I have it in it's soft case laying on it's side. if someone can help, I'd really appreciate it.

I prefer lying it on its side, away from foot traffic, or pets.

Either way, the most important things are a) that it can not fall and b) that the bridge will not get knocked.

I'm pretty sure he means "loosen the strings" but that's generally for long-term storage or shipping the instrument.

I think the corner is best. If it's in a traffic area screw an eyebold into the wall and tie a bungie cord to it and wrap it around the bass. I've added a bungie cord to my case which has really been helpful adding a little more security to travel and club storage.

I keep mine it the case on its side when I don't use it. I've never actually used a corner for my bass, but the continued recommendations of almost everyone here make me curious.

Mine's on its side, on a little rug. I don' t have a convenient corner. We've moved the furniture in the living room closer together, to make space for a "music area."
