I don't know who's touring w/ Sam, but his latest album features Byron House on URB and various EBs. Killer player w/ great tone!

At Merlefest, it was Byron House. Has been every year I've seen Sam Bush there. House is great! He also participates in the bass workshop there, and is great about answering any and all questions...

You can see and hear House in action by going to CMT's website and watching a few Andy Leftwich videos.

I remember you DPinTennessee.

Yeah, Andy plays fiddle with Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder. I met him one time in Fred Carpenter's shop in Nashville but at the time I had no idea who he was. I just knew he could absolutely tear up that fiddle.

Got my LaScala today

Got hybrid #179, flatback. I've only played it for about an hour so far. I'll post more under the "are they really that good" thread later tonight.

Initial impression: Really nice with the bow. I don't play much arco, but now I might start. Easy to get nice tone out of it. (It's strung with Obligatos, same as my old bass).

My old bass seemed twangy and thin as you moved up the neck. Not so here. Very warm and woody sounding all the way up.

More to come...

Hello Tumbao,

I am either the innovation supersilvers on all strings for practicing/ playing jazz-blues, and gut g/d jargar a/e for practicing/playing bluegrass type stuff.

Not 100% sure whether I am fully digging the gut/ jargar combo yet for feel and string tension-thickness but the tone matches up very well.

Just beautiful!

Congrats Joe,
What a beauty! Mine is a blonde Cleveland and it blows my old Juzek away. Just for grins, you may wish to try Spiro mittels (mediums) for your G and D strings and Spiro starks (heavy) for your A and E strings.
Love that blonde color!
Jim
