Dry's it out and becomes hot during the afternoons. I am a Classical Electric Bass player, as strange as that sounds. I will be moving on to the " Beast " in a matter of three days. In your opinions how do you think my bass is going to keep? I heard the awful story of Jaco's bass ( My best friend's father was friends with Jaco and his little bro in his Highschool and collage days, and my instructor went to highschool with Jaco as well ) and I Really really really don't want that to happen to my future baby. Will I need to purchase a humidifier and a dehumidifier?? All advice to my new beginnings and how to treat my future bass ( which will probably be a no-name chinese bass because Im renting ). The bass will be stored in my bedroom which has a fairly large window that I regularly keep open.

I've had a variety of DB's and spoken to a number of DB makers. The 40-80% humidity typically found in S. Florida is OK for a DB. My rooms average about 60-70%, and not that much lower with the air conditioning running all the time. Pretty good, I'm told. A lot more problems occur when you go to or live in a very dry climate. |

I mean, we're about in winter, and its a nice cool night and the humidity outside is 77%. So it doesn't change that much. And if it's really humid, you run the AC more, so it balances out. In other words, it's pretty consistent. |
