New Standard La Scala Question

I see on the New Standard site that the La Scala has a 41.5" string length. Does that make it a Eb or D neck? Or does the string length really have any bearing on the neck being a D or Eb?

Mine is a D neck and I'm pretty sure they all are. String length has little to do with this issue as far as I know.

Forgive the ignorance, but what do you guys mean by an Eb or D neck?

I may be wrong but I understand that when you move position and your thumb hits the heal of the bass your first finger is round about the D or Eb depending on the neck. Could be wrong.
