New Standard LaScala Hybrid in Scotland (UK)

I'm back in Edinburgh and wanted to let the local players know that I brought over from Los Angeles a LaScala Hybrid bass to use as my main working axe. I don't think there are many, if any, of these fine instruments in the UK, and I'd be pleased to let other players try it out if you find yourself in the Edinburgh area.

I shipped it over via air freight in a Pohlman box, packed very nicely by Lemur Music. I used a freight forwarder in the U.S., Airways Freight, who have an entire group specializing in moving orchestras and their instruments. While it wasn't inexpensive to do this, the bass arrived in perfect condition, and I'm very happy with their service.

Finally, I'm now interested in selling my older East German ply bass that served me well for the last couple of years. Set up by Kenny MacDonald, new end pin, bridge adjusters, Rev Solo I pickup.

Hey Erik, good to see you back.

You're obviously gearing up for a busy summer of gigs if you've gone to all that trouble! And it must be a really good bass if you can't be without it. Certainly the buzz about the New Standards is considerable, but as you say, there are very few in the UK.

I'd love to see your new baby and maybe give it a try. Do you have any gigs in Edinburgh soon? It would be good to hear you play again and perhaps I could try your La Scala on the break? I promise I'll wash my hands first!

Doug.

Greetings...I am the local agent for Airways Freight and have recently shipped the bass to Scotland for 'Low Note" and also one to Honolulu for a player in that orchestra. I am a free-lance musician myself (percussionist) and am known to the owner of LA Bass works personally and professionally. I would be happy to assist you with shipping your instrument to NY. We can pick up at your residence at your specificified time, and deliver with the same service in NY. We are not the cheapest way to go, but your instrument will be well cared for and you will be treated with the highest degree of respect and courtesy by everyone in our company. email: englander@airwaysfreight.com
