New Upton Hybrid

I just got my Upton hybrid today and I'm so happy! It's really better than I thought it would be. I do not have to fight the bass at all to play it. It feels like a natural extension of me... however weird that may sound. I know a bass doesn't exist without pictures, so I took a few quick pictures of it. Excuse my horrible photography and nasty flash.

The pictures do it no justice. You really have to see it in person. I'm very happy with it. Thanks to all the Upton staff!

Wow! That grain on the back... mmmmm. I also like how the end of the board is shaped. Nice finish too.

Have fun! Oh, and the extention thing, I don't think that it's weird at all. I think thats how any instrument should feel. Because if it feels that way, you're not concentrating on playing the instrument so much as simply making music. You'll play your very best on instruments like that, and you'll love every second of it.

Love these Uptons. They were on the front page of the Hartford Courant Business section last week. Enjoy your bass, especially the sound deepening over the next few months.

Here's an update. I played it with my concert band today and for the first time I actually heard myself in the band. Horns always drowned out the other basses I played. It's safe to say it's a loud bass. It sounds very, very nice.

wow. looks beautiful! I'm researching a lot of basses and trying to get upton bass myself too. Your fingerboard looks a little bit modified at the high register, is that a separate option or the feature?

If I'm not mistaken, I believe that's a standard cut for Uptons. I also believe that you can specifiy a request for a straight cut upon ordering.

It's a solo extension. You can just ask for it if you want it on your bass. It's free if I'm not mistaken.

the "solo" fingerboard is standard on all upton basses. I recieved my hybrid in november and i could not be happier with it. It is an excellent "in between" bass before i go to college. It is starting to open up a bit more and i am very pleased with its tone. They are excellent basses for the price but you should try one out before you order one. You should also take a trip to some local bass shops and try out some other basses before you buy one. Its always fun to go on trips and try out new basses. Good luck!
