Newbie Help Needed???

I know that you get this all the time, but this is my turn to make this question!!!

I'm getting into BD playing, in fact I'd being building an EUB....

but I want to buy an Acoustic... and to my surprise they cost an arm and a leg... I live in Alt GA.. and the cheapest Chinese bass is 2500
Laminated!!!

The ones that look descent are 8000+.... I'm not a professional, I want the bass for my entertainment, I love the sound and feeling on an BD....
Now… I don’t want something crappy that will break on pieces, because the wood wasn't really dry as Those C. Robellis....
so far the only reasonable price seems to me the bases from this website in NY

http://www.bassesonline.com/

they have some European basses for less than $2000
and fully carve... I'd haven’t tried'm is just too crazy to buy an Instrument without feeling it... is somebody have any experience with any of these DB's? Or there is anything of descent quality that I should be looking at..?

Pardon My writing I'm from Latin America I'm working on it

Welcome to the dark side. My first suggestion is that you go and read the newbie links very carefully. There are some very well-made, decent-sounding laminated instruments that can be had in the $1500-$2500 region. They are not CCBs. You don't have to spend anywhere near $8k to get a good-sounding well built DB with a good setup. Whatever you do, buy from a real bass shop that can provide you with a good setup and service.

Sorry. CCB = Cheap Chinese Bass. This does not mean, in the least, that all Chinese basses are cheap or less than desirable. It refers to the crapola often found on eBay.

Hey,
I demo upright basses for Upton bass here in Atlanta. I have a plywood that is for $2,000 that sounds amazing.
Email me at mishbass@bellsouth.net and we can set up a meeting to have you come over to my house.

+1 for drurb.

This is only a small list for you to start your search. There are many others, like Upton, that do good work. The most important thing though is to get one that is set up professionally. Stay away from Ebay and Craigs List unless you can play the instrument and know what you are looking at.

Welcome and good luck!
