nice Ebay purchase

I've posted here about my new Italian bass. Problem was that with a 20" upper and a 29 1/2" lower bout I thought I would have to have a bag custom made. A few weeks ago I was looking through Ebay and found that someone was selling a new unused 7/8 Reunion Blues bag. The measurements were near perfect. The guy was on the road and bought it from a shop that was closing. It was too big for his bass. I bought it and was pleased to see that it did appear to be unused. The upper bouts had a little bit too much extra room. I brought it to a luggage repair guy and he perfectly took in the upper bouts on the bag for $20. It now fits like a custom bag.
I paid $227.50 for the bag.

Very cool. Those are some very nice bags.
My bass has a 28-1/4 lower bout which made it a tight fit for the 7/8
Bobelock bag I tried so I ended up just buying a 4/4 bag. It is pretty loose around that big bottom so I have thought about having it taken in some. How did you estimate your degree of adjustment? Pins or measurements?

That's awesome that it worked out like that. You could have potentially paid a pretty penny for a fully custom bag. Very fortunate indeed

Score; not only is it crazy that you got the bag modified for $20, but you got the bag itself for a great price!

I too am interested in what exactly the guy did to alter the bag; funny that I have no problem taking apart instruments but I cringe at the thought of trying anything on a bass bag...
